As Christians we are called to make disciples. It is part of the Great Commission. Few people seem to have an idea what discipleship truly means however other than as a vague Christian term.

A disciple is literally a student. The disciples were students of Jesus. We too are called to be students of Jesus. Therefore discipleship is a spiritual discipline that we all must be aware of and practice. We should be all be continually learning and becoming more Christlike.

As we grow in Christ we will naturally want to see others grow in Christ as well, whether that means bringing someone to a saving knowledge of Christ or mentoring a younger believer into maturity in Christ. This can be referred to as external discipleship.

This Bible study has been broken down into two sections, internal discipleship and external discipleship. These sections can be studied together or separately depending on what your goal is in studying discipleship.

This study is broken into printable sections with questions which make it ideal for studying with a small group or studying individually. Some of this Bible study is based on the book "The Cost of Discipleship" by Dietrich Bonhoeffer.
